Tennis

Image of tennis net Shadwell Tennis Club is a small friendly club for players of all levels. It was founded in 1973 and is hidden away on the path between Main Street and Church Farm Garth. They are actively looking for new members of all ages and abilities. Annual membership is just £35 for adults and £15 for under 18s.

Cricket

Image of cricket dismissal Shadwell Cricket Club has been the sporting focal point of the community for more than a century. Over half the cricket played at the club is at junior level through four junior sides at U11, U13, U15 and U17 level. The junior cricket is subsidised and administered in accordance with ECB policies. The club has strong links with local schools, Yorkshire County Cricket Club, Leeds City Council and the YCCC Development Officer. They run summer coaching camps for juniors and are heavily involved in the Shadwell Community Bonfire. Many of the club's senior players came through the junior ranks.

Football

Image of soccer game Shadwell United is a junior football club with several squads including U9, U10, U12 and U14 teams playing in the Garforth Junior League. Some of the squads train at Shadwell Primary School.

Bridge

Image of King of Hearts Shadwell Bridge Club meets most Friday evenings in the Village Hall to play duplicate pairs contract bridge. They formed over three years ago and currently enjoy about six tables per session. It is a friendly club and you will be made very welcome whatever your standard. They don't run teaching sessions so you will need to know how to play the game, but you don't have to have played in a club before: you quickly get used to it. They are not members of the EBU.

Yoga

Image of yoga class The Yoga Group is informal and friendly with a wide range of abilities. They meet on Tuesdays at 8 pm in the Village Hall for a varied programme of yoga postures with some favourites performed regularly, followed by a relaxation and meditation session.

Probus

Image of Probus logo Shadwell and District Probus Club provides opportunities for retired professional and business men from different walks of life to enjoy the company of others with similar interests. Most members live in Shadwell and North Leeds, but others come from nearby towns and villages such as Wetherby, Scarcroft and Harrogate. They meet in Shadwell Social Club at 10.00 on the third Monday of each month (except December).
