St Paul's is the Church of England parish church, and is a pleasant enough Victorian stone building, fitting in both location and size. It has some fetching stained glass, and furniture by Robert Thompson.

Holy Communion is on Sun at 08:00. There is an hour long Parish Communion on Sun at 10:00, except for the third Sun of the month, when there is a non-Eucharist themed service.

Shadwell also has Methodist Church in traditional plain chapel style, with a Sunday morning congregation of about 30 people.

Sunday School runs in conjunction with the morning service.

A friendly get-together for coffee takes place after every morning service, and a service of Holy Communion is held once a month.

There is no obviously convenient Catholic Church serving Shadwell.

In Eastern cultures, the many-seeded pomegranate was regarded as a fertility symbol. Nevertheless, 400 pomegranates adorned the two pillars in front of the temple (2 Chr. 4:13). Pomegranates alternated with bells on the robe of the high priest (Ex. 39:24). The Israelites did not refrain from using the pomegranate symbol, even though pagans in nearby Syria worshiped a god named Rimmon, meaning "Pomegranate" (2 Kgs. 5:18; Strong’s Concordance, 7417, 7416).
