More Success for Shadwell United
The Shadwell United U12 team won the Durkar Football Tournament for the third year in a row on 19 June after beating Ossett 3-1 in the final.

Shadwell United U12 Success
One of Shadwell United's teams has won the Garforth League Challenge Cup for the U12s beating Farsley 3-1 in the final. Well done to all involved.

Shadwell United Also in GJFL Cup Final
Shadwell United Football Club have also reached the cup final for the Garforth Junior Football League, which is at 11.00 on 17 April at Ossett Town’s ground.

Shadwell United in County Cup Final
One of Shadwell United's U12 teams has reached the Final of the West Riding County FA shield and the semi final of the Garforth League Cup. The club is also in contention for the U12 Division 1 title.
If you want to support the team, the final is at 19.30 on Wed 6 Apr at WR County HQ, Woodlesford.
Adults £4, concessions £2, pay on the door.

Cartridge and Mobile Phone Recycle Point at the Village Store
There is now a recycle point for ink cartridges, toner cartridges and mobile phones in the Village Store & Post Office.

Shadwell YIB Gold Award and Group Winners for 2010
Shadwell has been awarded a Yorkshire in Bloom Gold Rose, and we were group winners for 2010! We have entered the Britain in Bloom competition for 2011.

New-Look Village Store & Post Office
The reburbishments to the Village Store & Post Office are complete. The store now sells wines, beers, spirits and pre-packaged fruit and vegtables, and has colour photocopying.
The Store has extended opening hours.

Shadwell in Bloom Awarded Silver Gilt
The hard work put in by Shadwell in Bloom and all the volunteers has been rewarded with the achievement of Silver Gilt in the Spring judging. Only Scholes did better with a Gold award. If you see an area that might be improved, please contact a committee member.

Shadwell Primary School in Leeds Top 10
The achievement and attainment tables published by the DCSF for 2009 shows Shadwell Primary School in the top ten schools in Leeds putting it in the top 5% of schools in the area. See Times Online.

Cindy Barr Recognized For Community Work
Parish Councillor Cindy Barr was presented with one of the 2009 Jack Anderson awards by the Lord Major at a ceremony in the City Museum at the beginning of October. She was runner up in the annual award, which is given for contribution to the community. Cindy was specifically recognised for the difference she has made to the lives of older people in Shadwell.
